Security, compliance & cyber insurance
Can you help us meet our cyber-insurance requirements?
Yes. Cyber-insurance has changed dramatically in recent years. Insurers now require you to prove specific security controls are in place before they'll offer cover — and getting the questionnaire wrong can mean a higher premium, a declined application, or, worst of all, a rejected claim after an incident because you'd stated controls you didn't actually have.
What insurers typically ask for
- Multi-factor authentication (MFA) on email, remote access and admin accounts.
- Managed, tested backups — ideally immutable and offsite.
- Endpoint protection / EDR on all devices.
- Security-awareness training and phishing simulation.
- Patching and supported operating systems (which is exactly why running end-of-life Windows 10 is a problem for cover).
Why the questionnaire is a trap for the unwary
These forms are often filled in by a business owner ticking boxes hopefully, without knowing whether the controls are genuinely and correctly in place. If you claim MFA is enabled everywhere but it isn't, an insurer can decline the claim precisely when you need it most. Accuracy isn't optional — it's the difference between a policy that pays out and one that doesn't.
How we help
We implement the required controls and — just as importantly — document them, so you can answer the questionnaire accurately and honestly. Because many of these controls align with the ASD Essential Eight, the same work also improves your real-world resilience, not just your paperwork. If you have a policy renewal or application coming up, get the controls right first — call (08) 9325 1196.
