Stopping sensitive data leaking to AI chatbots for a Perth building company
A building company worried staff were pasting confidential information into public AI chatbots like ChatGPT. We researched the options and deployed Acronis' generative-AI data-protection package to block sensitive data from reaching AI tools — without stopping staff working.

The challenge
A 15-staff Perth building company recognised an emerging risk: employees using public AI chatbots like ChatGPT could paste in confidential and commercially sensitive information — contracts, client details, pricing — where it leaves the business's control. They wanted their team to keep benefiting from AI productivity tools without exposing sensitive company and client data to third-party AI services.
What we did
We researched the options for controlling how data flows to generative-AI tools, then implemented Acronis' GenAI data-protection package. It applies data-loss-prevention controls that detect and block sensitive information from being copied or uploaded into AI chatbots, while still allowing safe, everyday use of the tools staff rely on.
The outcome
Staff continue to work as normal, but confidential company and client information is now blocked from being pasted or uploaded into public AI chatbots — closing an emerging and easily overlooked data-leak risk. The whole 15-person team is covered by the policy, giving leadership confidence that adopting AI tools won't compromise confidentiality.
