Shutting down an unauthorised TeamViewer access at a Joondalup building company
Staff were tricked into granting remote TeamViewer access in a fake support call. We identified and blocked the unauthorised access, worked directly with TeamViewer to lock the environment down the same day, and enforced a policy so only our team can connect — closing the door on a repeat.

The challenge
A 20-staff building company in Joondalup was targeted by a tech-support-style scam. The caller convinced a staff member the contact was legitimate, and they granted full unattended TeamViewer access to one of their computers. The staff member realised shortly afterwards that the call was not genuine and contacted us for help — with an unknown party potentially still able to reach the machine.
What we did
We responded quickly, identified the unauthorised access and blocked it, then coordinated directly with TeamViewer support to lock the environment down the same day. To prevent a repeat, we implemented a policy so that only our team can access the computer through TeamViewer — removing the ability for an outsider to be granted access again.
The outcome
The unauthorised access was identified and blocked, and TeamViewer access was restricted through policy enforcement so only our team can connect. Direct coordination with TeamViewer support resolved the issue fast, and we tightened the security controls on the client's endpoint environment to reduce the risk of a repeat incident.
